diverter spout replacement - Wrench It Up plumbing and mechanical

Diverter spouts are an important part of any shower system. They allow you to control the flow of water from the tub spout to the showerhead, and vice versa. If you have a diverter spout that is not working properly, you may experience low water pressure or water that will not switch from the tub to the showerhead.

Understanding how diverter spouts work is key to troubleshooting any issues. Most diverter spouts have a lever or knob that you turn to direct water flow. When the lever is turned, a valve inside the spout moves to block water flow to the tub spout and redirect it to the showerhead.

If you are experiencing issues with your diverter spout, such as water coming out of both the tub spout and showerhead at the same time, or low water pressure, it is likely time for a replacement. Installing a new diverter spout is a relatively simple task that you can complete with some basic tools.

To replace a diverter spout, start by shutting off the water supply to the shower. Then, remove the old spout by unscrewing it from the wall pipe. Make sure to clean the pipe and apply plumber’s tape to ensure a tight seal when installing the new spout.

Next, install the new spout by screwing it onto the wall pipe and tightening it with a wrench. Turn the water supply back on and test the new spout to make sure it is working properly.
