If you have a low-pressure lavatory faucet, there are several steps that you can take to increase the water pressure.
1. Check your water supply lines. In some cases, the issue may be caused by a clog or other blockage in the line itself. If this is the case, try cleaning out the supply lines with a plumbing snake.
2. Check your shut-off valves. The main valve may be partially closed, reducing the water pressure to your faucet. Make sure that the valve is completely open before proceeding further.
3. Replace the aerator on your faucet if necessary. An old or clogged aerator can reduce the amount of water that flows through a faucet, reducing the pressure. Removing and replacing the aerator may do the trick if other steps have not worked.
4. Check your water heater‘s thermostat setting. A lower than optimal temperature may result in reduced water pressure as well. If necessary, adjust the temperature to ensure that it is set at the recommended level.
5. Consider installing a water pressure booster pump to increase the amount of pressure. This may be an expensive option, but it will result in increased water pressure throughout your home.
No matter which option you choose, make sure to test the water pressure before and after taking action to ensure that the changes are effective.
